ToDoList: mini-projects throughout large

T he little open source program "ToDoList" seems unremarkable - but a real power package for all projects from the private to-do list is to medium project plans. What inspired by something the sophisticated user interface that allows for an extremely lively input.

klein, flott und durchdacht

small, fast and sophisticated

However, ToDoList is struggling with a big hurdle: the early adopters. If one tool that is installed on only briefly (also works on the USB stick and on the intranet) and calls, it appears cluttered and confusing: Many input fields, smaller main screen, etc. If, however, 10 minutes to take (more you really need not), the matter is completely different. But first things first:

Example 1: Simple list

Central to ToDoList is a hierarchical task order, as many sub-levels can be formed to move the individual points convenient to the branches and hide. Important: I can also create as many "master lists" that I be shown on the top as tabs.

So I can create for example a shopping list and for the next vacation, check points completed, print, export, etc. Done.

Example 2: Project Work

Let's say I design with Dieter, Udo and Conny together a small website, which should be ready for the next club party. Then I will divide the tasks, for example. Now it's super easy to make such an assignment: I do not have any resources to program complicated part, "employee" and "time budget" defined. No - when I type the name that automatically creates a new list of names will be generated.

Similarly, it is easy with the categories (tags): I'll give you a job at the same time, the keyword list expanded, so that later I must tick only.

The "Display Table" I can set up all you want: Use Ctrl-M I get a full screen mode, I can show and hide individual columns leave, so the only show what I need really.

Although there are a variety of other input options (priority, duration, start and end points, time clock, etc.), but the key point is: I'm free to decide whether I want to use these fields or not - the program gives me the freedom, to keep things as simple as possible.

Interfaces and more

It looks really good at the interfaces: not just the usual facilities such as export as a web page as text or Excel document are given. In particular, the exchange with other open source software is available: Thus for example the famous Mindmap program FreeMind and Export. Or, if you want to implement larger projects, with the format of GanttProject work.

Likewise, you can create your own print layouts, use lots of filters, plugins, etc., etc. And add: The developer is not very active, he is based in many cases in the future versions of the free tools that the user desires a.

The list goes on and on: Include File references and URLs, graphics take over from the clipboard, saved search queries, synchronization, automatic entry of new tasks via Launchy , lists with password protection, etc. etc. etc.

Conclusion: Love at second sight ...

Correctly. For on-line lists, for example, I use RememberTheMilk what you do but unfortunately no hierarchical arrangement. The matters to me, at least for certain projects, as larger tasks often consist of small stages.

Looks interesting. Wers more spartan needs (self-discipline, lack of), perhaps like the Thinking Rock ( http://www.thinkingrock.com.au/ )
