TiddlyWiki - A wiki-tiny broke all download records
E

in Wiki system, which consists of a single HTML file? A wiki system that you wear on your USB flash drive with you? A wiki system for singles? Moment, dear one after ... Wiki systems themselves have become better known through the encyclopedia "Wikipedia" . You have a rough idea, that, and in such systems, many authors have written at the same time that the issue happens mostly on a Web page that can contain text content change complete and easy when you learn a little syntax ("fat" is fat, etc. .) - and that there are now a considerable number of different systems. This Viking sea-ended TiddlyWiki by Jeremy Ruston as a system of many its existence. Some knew it, some used it, most people overlooked.
Came up, so to Nathan Bowers. Who missed the design a new look and expanded the functions so that they are ideal for note collections, to-do lists, mini-projects, outline sketches were so - and put his GTDTiddlyWiki the GTD community as well (Getting Things Done = get things settled - a very well known in the States Schedule philosophy). This immediately recognized the advantages of micro-content management, it is promoted in public collections such as bookmark del.icio.us in the top rating, triggering a boom like this in further developments, which is quite impressive (and a few days ago with 4 new versions of tagging has reached a new peak - see below).
But what exactly people enthusiastic about this mini-story? Does she really a "new kind of writing," as some of the developers? Let's look at the details ...
Closer to ... once.
First TiddlyWiki is for singles
The TiddlyWiki systems actually are (see below) is not built on group work. They are to serve the personal note collection. No installation. No PHP or MySQL. No server. A single HTML file will be stored and retrieved in the new browser. Finish. This 40 KB large file containing the entire system, including content. I can make any changes to load this file on my USB flash drive, bring to the office, such as a notebook carry with me forever.
You'd rather, if you have a system online, working in groups, can you use passwords, etc.? No problem: in the meantime have been formed from PHP CGI to several adaptations of the original, allowing all of this.
Second TiddlyWiki is thinking in contexts
The first test of the system is experiencing a series of animations (that can be disabled by the way), the small Tiddlers (= text passages) wildly back and forth. This looks like fun and you think first: As has a lot to play with JavaScript. Only at second glance it becomes clear what this means: We will "jump" to no longer link by link. A click on a link "moves" rather approach the relevant text passage and removes others. Or if I type in the search box letters, from the third letter of all passages in which they occur, are "pulled together" and listed one after another (the search word itself is automatically highlighted in color).
Third TiddlyWiki is simple - ingenious
Okay, I have to work with the standard wiki syntax (plus the WikiWord link system, the advantages and disadvantages) - are, however, has to be taught in 10 minutes if they are not already covered by other systems ago mastered (for Firefox it as an extension to the right mouse button).
As usual, just double click on a story and I'm now in the editor window. But this is not just for my writing - it also applies to the menu bar for page titles - even for the style sheet that I can change the layout (!). And program updates can be entered with a handle. All on the same surface with the same system - that's awesome.
Automatically takes the supplement to the "Timeline" (a kind of "history"), the glossary, etc.
4th And it gets even better
TiddlyWiki is indeed the origin and the "father" of all fundamental developments, but as already mentioned GTDTiddlyWiki has shown it can make things even better. A small quantum jump, the system has not experienced by adaptations that work with the assignment of tags (= keywords) and fullest the full potential of this method. The two newest systems (there are currently 4) GTDTagglyWiki and Simon Baird's development , which I personally like very well. Simon now has the option of sortable tables, clustered tags and added a "Done" mark (the points that are done move automatically to the bottom of the list).
I think it is worthwhile in any case, the reserve by 15 minutes for a little test. If you understand the system correctly once (and at least "wiki-savvy" will have done this after a few minutes), you will quickly discover the possibilities for your own life.
A truly massive collection of checklists, tips and rules for office, home and leisure time is at Life Organizer to find.

MANN,
looks great!
been adapted? Or Where can I find something (in German, at least the tutorial?)
Great tip ...
The English tutorial is pretty good, a German, I do not know unfortunately.
But with 10 minutes of "clicking around" so you'll find the most points. For example, you need to know anything about the left main menu because it just in a 'tiddler-paragraph "there is, as the entire rest of the text. The same applies to the style sheet, etc.
Well, you could still consider a German instruction in some form once, if the need really is to a greater extent because ... I can now appreciate bad.
tiddlywiki German: I'm at work, more soon
I do not dare ...
I've already played it, but I do not know how many posts of this tool can handle. My plan was Moby Dick in word definitions, together with such a tool to integrate, but even then there comes along a lot ...
Earlier, the question came to help start something in German. Perhaps this helps my TiddlyWikiHandbuch further. It is based on the original but TiddlyWiki by Jeremy Ruston. It does not address the specifics of GTDTiddlyWiki.
Knotless work! Thanks for the tip! The GTD variant seems already to be not quite developed - but the original has tags, macros, etc. again made giant strides. And other adaptations (especially ELS Design ) have been overtaken far GTD TW.
In any case, your tutorial is great!
I once had a current version of the GTDTiddlyWiki translated into German, and on my blog for downloading provided. If someone has helped you.
Hmmm, this looks so delicious and original ma really thank you from the information I'll be there like foxes and ma purely on my webmaster portal download http://bizzload.com try directly.
