One of the biggest problems of USB flash drives: They can be anywhere. And that means everyone can read your personal data. Now there are honest finder who want to know really just who to inform about the loss. And less honest finder, which are very curious. A small program that Geek.Menu is both "finder groups" cut:
Well known and undisputed No. 1 is yes, the free encryption program TrueCrypt , which allows you to encrypt either the entire drive or only parts of it quite safe. This software is quite convenient because it automatically detects the "trusted" computers (such as your own office computer or your own laptop) and on other PCs also works when there is no Truecrypt is installed (in the current versions Also the thing with the admin rights become unnecessary). So far, so good.
Now, there are now a very nice start menu, Geek.Menu that reminds of the popular program launcher, from the of PortableApps knows her. What is not surprising, since it is a - is the development branch - independent. Now Geek.Menu does have a lot of extras (headings can be created, for example) - but above all, it works perfectly with all the special features of TrueCrypt, such as the already mentioned definition of trusted PCs etc ., making it ideal for sticks is encrypted. Added, however: Infected someone found the strange part in a computer it will automatically be displayed via Geek.Menu a "calling card" that displays such as a photo of the owner and his cell phone number. So you can have, for example at conferences fortunate that just before starting a phone call from the finder gets ...

Forget Geek menu, if you are not computer scientists. A normal German Durchschnittshomie can start at exactly do with it. There are in the main folder but a full 11 German locales files, but no way to open it. The surface, which is to click on the exe file and re-clicking the tray icon opens offers, except unintelligible stuff also nothing. What has to seek such an arrogant, over-programmed crap out of a very special insider scene is a mystery to me. Hi John T. Haller, how about if you ever come down just short of your ivory tower and your works for regular PC users to operate do hmmm?

@ Michael: you can simply install the new Truecrypt and copy all files from the installation directory on a USB drive into the Truecryptverzeichnis.

@ Fiete: Do not understand what you mean you installed it and that is when you start with a German options. I think it is very easy to use and a really good program.

    @ Herbert
You write that "if there is no TrueCrypt is installed (in the current versions is also the case with the Admin privilege have become unnecessary)"

Requires the latest version of TrueCrypt really no admin rights more, because I have not found it?

Well, actually I had thought, the Traveler mode would not need it anymore. But the improvement is probably the only that - if even TrueCrypt has been set up by an admin, you do not need admin rights even more:
